Citrus Glazed Polenta Cake...

...from Gina DePalma's Dolce Italiano.

I made it for tomorrow's breakfast but Micha made me cut a piece for him for dessert this evening.  He loves everything out of Gina's book, and this cake is no exception.  It is a simple, lovely cake, extremely healthy since it is made with olive oil, and fits just about any occasion, I think.  In fact, I am enjoying a piece right now (Micha made me do it....)

Looks delicious. Sampling a piece of cake is just one of the roles of an Inn Keeper before serving to the guests. It's called Quality Control.

It's a tough job but someone has to do it!

Micha must be an evil guy, are you sure there's going to be any cake tomorrow morning?

That's Torta Gialla! What a good idea to make it with a citrus frosting, more yellow to it:)!
PS Two demijohns are sitting in the trunk of my car right now, if you're still interested (if not, no probl, I can always have more)

mmmmmmm...tasty, even though I am not a big cake eater..do you normally have cake for breakfast?

I hope there was some left for your guests :-)

My formula is five things, divided up between savory and sweet.

Muesli and Yogurt
A cake, tart, or sweet of some kind
Bread, either whole grain or foccia
cheese, cold cuts, tomato
some kind of egg if wished

This was the sweet of the day.

Love that the demijohns are coming back to Baur B&B after the winter's storms!

Michael and I can attest that breakfast this morning was delicious. We had all five things, of course, and the polenta cake was the crowning glory.

Although the bread was incredible and really hard to resist. The yogurt with fresh fruit, mmm, and ... oh, hell, it was ALL good.

The five-thing-breakfast actually holds us from 9am until 7pm. Unless we're going wine tasting, as we are today.

In which case we forced ourselves to consume some sharp provolone and prosciutto. FORCED ourselves, I tell you! M. said "if this didn't taste so good I wouldn't eat it because I'm still full from breakfast."
