Gratitude Friday: The Material Girl Surfaces

I am going to keep my gratitude short and sweet this week.  I am extremely grateful for one thing in particular.  Without it, the 100+ degree temperatures day after day would have been unbearable for us and for our guests.  Our sweet, lovely swimming pool.

I know it's a material thing. And I know we could do without it if necessary.  I am so grateful this week that we did not have to.  It has been an oasis for us all!

Please join in, if you like, in telling us what you are grateful for in your life.  It can be small, it can be large, it can be a long list or a short one.  Just be grateful for what you have, for all the wonderful bounty all around you.  Instead of focusing on what is not working well right now, take two minutes and be grateful for all the things that are working well -- your lungs, your hands, your heart, your car, your air conditioning, whatever it may be.  Voice your thanks here.  If you would like to post on your blog about it, let me know, and I will put you on the Gratitude Friday Blogroll.  If you have asked me to do this, and I have not, nudge me, please.  It's my busy season and I get forgetful, especially with the heat.

Life is a gift.  Let's please be grateful for every day!

I'm grateful that Marco went with me to Ikea this week and that there may actually be a couch in my future! I know it sounds ridiculous, but the reorganization required to insert said couch will go a long way to making our apartment feel like a home.

I'm grateful that the weather broke, and that today's projected high is 77 degrees -- instead of 97, like Wednesday!!

I am grateful that I made it back to Paris, and so grateful to have my wonderful friends here. My hosts are fantastic, they are leaving me with their apartment and I going to cat sit as from tomorrow...

A swimming pool might be a meterial thing, but your guests will be so grateful too!! As you say wonderful for you all!! :-)

I think it is perfectly okay to be grateful for material things... a pool, a couch... What's important, I think, is that one appreciate these items and the work it took to have them in your life, and to focus on the pleasure they bring to you and to others. I'd be pretty darn grateful if I had a pool in these days! Enjoy ...

I loved what Stresa Sights said about material things. When I lived in HK I had a reading from a wonderful British lady and she said I was put on this earth to create places and things of beauty. I have never forgotten that and take such a thing with humility and obligation. And with that I am grateful for the simple things in life...a glass of red wine, a candle, fresh flowers from the garden, the way my nephew runs and jumps into my arms when he sees me...happy weekend to all!

Grazie West by South... And what West by South said has made me think again of you, Diana, and the beautiful material things you create in your studio... To be able to create them, and to share them, certainly is something to be grateful for, and the material item itself is just the physical symbol of that... Ok, enough deep thoughts by me... going to go be grateful for a coffee and muffin now...

I am grateful for my father's leather recliner.
It has made it to my home... after over a year of attempts... it is so nice to have a part of his life in my home...

Great post, Diana. I wrote about something else today that I'm grateful for, but I'm very grateful for the Internet so I can follow people's blogs!

I am grateful I stumbled across your post this morning (think I linked from At Home in Tuscany). My perspective is off these days and I forget to focus on the positive. Thank you.
